El-Jebel
is a small community located in the northwest portion of the state of Colorado. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,801 residents. It consists mainly of one major commercial area and several housing develops, but it's one of the fastest growing communities in the region. It's situated between the towns of Carbondale and Basalt in the Roaring Fork Valley. El Jebel is just a short drive to world-class skiing at Aspen and Snowmass. It's also near the natural hot springs and spas at Glenwood Springs. Other activities in the area include fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking, river rafting and kayaking, horseback riding and camping. The Roaring Fork and Frying Pan Rivers are known for their excellent trout fishing, and nearby Ruedi Reservoir offers sailing, boating, water-skiing and wind surfing. For history buffs, The Mount Sopris Historical Museum is housed in a century old, two-story log cabin and gives a detailed history of the area. The nearby city of Carbondale offers daily bus service to and from Glenwood Springs, Basalt and Aspen. There are lots of special events in the area, including River Days Festival in Basalt and the Carbondale Mountain Fair.

El Jebel Weather & Climate

Northwestern Colorado has a highland, alpine mountain cliamte. Having the highest average elevation in the United States, combined with complex topography, results in dramatic climate changes from place to place. A general rule of thumb is the higher the elevation, the lower the temperature with an increase in precipitation. Northwest Colorado has snowy winters and mild summers. In years when snow cover is heavy at high elevations, or when there is a sudden warming in the spring at high elevations, flooding may be a problem. Thunderstorms are possible in spring and summer. Hail is common in the northwest part of the state. Autumn means crisp, dry days with lots of sunshine and cool nights. Spring and autumn weather can change rapidly.
