Broomfield
is a mid-size town that is the county seat for Broomfield County, which lies within the northern tier of the Denver-Aurora metro area. The community straddles Boulder, Adams, Jefferson and Weld counties. The town of Broomfield has an extensive trail system that connects the various parks and lakes in the area, including a spectacular trail that connects Stearns Lake and Josh's Pond on the west side of town. Nearby Denver has one of the largest park systems in the country and offers everything from golf and tennis to fishing and boating. Denver's downtown is the tenth largest in the nation and offers over 300 restaurants, 90 bars, museums, art galleries, world class shopping and a unique downtown amusement park. Other places to visit in the Broomfield area include the Denver Zoo, the Downtown Aquarium, the Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. For wintertime fun, several ski resorts are located just outside the Denver metro area and offer downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, tubing and more.

North-central Colorado has a semi-arid, continental climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year. It's a common misconception that due to its close proximity to the mountains and world-class skiing, that north-central Colorado has harsh winters. This is not entirely true. While there may be occasional bitter temperatures, storms do not last long. Periods of snow alternate with mild periods. The snow quickly melts with the mild daytime winter temperatures. The hottest months are July and August with an average high temperature of 74 degrees. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of 30 degrees. This region has four distinct seasons, and being along the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains means weather patterns are subject to rapid, volatile, yet brief changes.
