Keystone
spans seven miles along the Snake River in Summit County in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This premier resort has been referred to as the "ultimate all things to all skiers" resort by Skiing Magazine. Four different mountains are available to ski at Keystone that altogether offer 2,227 acres of terrain along with 24 lifts. Three of the mountains are accessible from the Keystone Village Base area. The fourth mountain, Arapahoe Basin is a ten-minute shuttle ride up Loveland Pass. Keystone is well known for its' wide, groomed trails and designated slow skiing areas - perfect for beginners. Snowboarding is also available and a cross-country ski area winds through the White River National Forest. Other activities at Keystone include night skiing, ice-skating, sleigh rides, scenic gondola rides and snowmobiling, with hiking, biking, horseback riding and golf available in summer. In addition, Keystone offers things just for kids, like summer day camps and junior golf clinics. You will find award winning dining and nightlife, spa and salon services and an eclectic array of shopping in Keystone's villages. Two championship golf courses and the Rocky Mountains largest and most distinguished conference center is also located here. Nearby attractions include beautiful Lake Dillon and the White River National Forest.

Central Colorado has a more complex climate than most states in the United States. Even places a few miles apart can experience entirely different weather depending on the topography of the area. The valleys are classified as a semi-arid, continental climate, which becomes a mountain or alpine climate at higher elevations. Humid microclimates may also exist in some places. Abundant sunshine and low humidity is typical in all areas. Summers are mild to warm, and thunderstorms can cause a sudden drop in temperature. Winters are cold and snowy, especially in the higher elevations of the Rocky Mountains. Solar radiation penetrates the thin atmosphere high in the mountains, which results in very pleasant temperatures during the winter. This is why skiers are often pictured in very light clothing, even though they're surrounded by snow.
