Pagosa-Springs
is located approximately thirty minutes west of the Continental Divide and the Wolf Creek Ski Area. Known for its' natural, mineral rich hot springs, "Pagosah" is a Southern Ute word for "healing waters." The San Juan River flows through the heart of the town, which is surrounded by the San Juan National Forest. Pagosa Springs is also considered the gateway to the many attractions of the Four Corners Region, including two historic narrow-gauge railroads, Puebloan ruins and a myriad of recreational opportunities. Visitors can enjoy hiking and backpacking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, four wheeling, snowmobiling and skiing (the Wolf Creek Ski Area boasts the most snow in all of Colorado.) There is a 27-hole championship golf course located in Pagosa Springs (with the dramatic Continental Divide as a backdrop,) and nearby Navajo Lake is famous for its' boating and other water sports. The Chimney Rock Archaeological Puebloan ruins are located midway between Pagosa Springs and Navajo Lake, and other Pagosa Springs attractions include the San Juan Historical Museum, the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park, the Fred Harmon Art Museum and Echo Lake State Park. The area is also home to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the state - at least twenty-five. The community also hosts several special events throughout the year, including the "Four Corners Folk Festival," the 4th of July "Arts in the Park Crafts Fair" and "Red Ryder Rodeo" and a "ColorFest/Balloon Rally," held at the end of September.

Pagosa Springs Weather & Climate
Southwest Colorado has a four-season alpine climate. This region is on the Western Slope of the Continental Divide at 7,200 feet above sea level. The combination of high desert plateau and Rocky Mountains to the north and east create an unusually mild climate. Temperatures here are much cooler in the summer than most of the surrounding southwestern United States. The area is also blessed with 300 days of sunshine per year. The climate of any particular place in this region is profoundly affected by differences in elevation, and to a lesser degree, by the orientation of mountain ranges and valleys and wind direction. Wide variations occur within short distances.
