Idaho-Springs is a small town of less than 2,000 residents, located in Clear Creek County in the heart of Colorado, just minutes west of Denver. It's home to the famous Indian Springs Resort, which has been rated as one of the top ten mineral hot springs in the world. The community of Idaho Springs is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains near the Mt. Evans Scenic & Historic Byway, which is North America's highest paved highway. This breathtaking ride takes you to the 14,265-foot summit at Mt. Evans, where along the way you'll likely see mountain goats, elk, deer and bighorn sheep. Idaho Springs offers great shopping and dining on Miner Street in the downtown historic district. Walking tours of the National Historic District take you to interesting landmarks such as the place where Buffalo Bill Cody had his last drink and where Ulysses S. Grant stayed. A drive up Colorado Boulevard takes you past stately Victorian mansions and miners' bungalows. Other attractions include Bridal Veil Falls, located right in town behind the historic waterwheel built in the 1890s. Just north of town, "Oh My Gawd" Road is named for its narrow, curving lanes that offer spectacular views of Idaho Springs, Mt. Evans and the Continental Divide. The historic gambling towns of Black Hawk and Central City are less than twenty minutes away and downhill skiing is available at the Loveland Ski Area, just 30 minutes from Idaho Springs.

Idaho Springs Weather & Climate

North-central Colorado has a semi-arid, continental climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year. It's a common misconception that due to its close proximity to the mountains and world-class skiing, that north-central Colorado has harsh winters. This is not entirely true. While there may be occasional bitter temperatures, storms do not last long. Periods of snow alternate with mild periods. The snow quickly melts with the mild daytime winter temperatures. The hottest months are July and August with an average high temperature of 74 degrees. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of 30 degrees. This region has four distinct seasons, and being along the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains means weather patterns are subject to rapid, volatile, yet brief changes.
